Guarding Your Heart...a Lesson in Patience

I was the girl who never dated in high school.

I was careful with my relationships - too careful, probably. But I learned that guarding your heart, even if I did it imperfectly, was the best decision I ever made. Don't misunderstand me, I haven't done things perfectly, but when we leave things in Gods hands He is able to clearly guide us down the path He has for us. Be patient. Patience reveals things that nothing else can. That's why we wait upon the Lord. Serve the Lord. Seek Him above him. Get what I'm saying? ;)

Proverbs 4:23 says,

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."

Waiting to date or be intimate in any way is not a sign of pride or having too high of standards, it actually takes great courage to stand for up something you believe in.

So if you're feeling discouraged because God hasn't brought the right man into your life, remember this: God is sovereign. And if I really believe that God is in sovereign control of my life and I start complaining then I'm really complaining about God. To complain is to say that God is less than able or willing to do what is best for me. And God always gives His best to those who leave the choice up to Him. What choice? Well, you have two: 1. To create your own timeline. 2. To abide by His timeline. The choice is yours.

So what should you do? Look at Romans 12:12 "rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer". Be hopeful! Be patient! Be prayerful! These 3 things will carry you through everything that you face in this life.

So don't be afraid to walk the narrow road with God. The narrow road is a life-giving road - and though less traveled the journey is rewarding.
